24 years ago today, Lauren Cheney was born. 21 years ago, she was having open-heart surgery. 18 years ago, she started playing on boys’ teams. Fast-forward to 2011 and she kicks ass for a living as a professional athlete. She’s a spectacular soccer player and a wonderful person. Happy Birthday, Chen-Dog!!

My USWNT Top 10 aka my faves.
Ok, so like I said I included the player pool. And let me just say the hardest part was assigning numbers as just about everyone on this list is predictable for me.
1. Alexandra Blaire Krieger - I just love her everything and she had an amazing World Cup.
2. Mary Abigail Wambach - I’m pretty sure she invented the word “awesome” and good thing too because I use it a ton.
3. Ashlyn Michelle Harris - I just adore her tons. And it doesn’t hurt that she’s a bad ass keeper.
I have a thing for keepers.
4. Kelley Maureen O’Hara - I love that she’s a spirited player and everything she does seems to be just too cute.
5. Heather Ann O’Reilly - Gamefaces, talent and non-stop hilarity.
6. Megan Anna Rapinoe - There are literally no words for Pinoe and her epicness.
7. Alexandra Patricia Morgan - I used to stan a lot harder for her than I do now but I feel like enough people are doing that for me, still I’m really proud of how far she’s progress in this team. Girl is just a finisher. I love it. I died from flailing when she scored her first senior wnt goal. True facts.
8. Sydney Rae Leroux - The future. Hopefully. I remember her killing it in 2008 and again last year (we won’t talk about that pen). Another finisher and she well, looks like that. Her tweets about her fiance’s hr tonight were pretty adorable I won’t lie.
9. Lauren Nicole Cheney - Great young forward and I was happy to see her do well in a different role during the WWC even though the only change I wanted was her for ARod with Pinoe keeping her spot (I’ve been saying this for a while) but whatever. She’s the team dj, stylist and all kinds of adorbs.
10. Hope “Bad Ass” Amelia Solo - What can I say about Hope? Just because she’s number 10 doesn’t mean I don’t love her. I do. She’s just too much for me sometimes and yet I love her rants, gusto, defensiveness and swagger all the same. She’s the best keeper in the world and I’m fucking happy she’s American.
