Bobby Petrino to be fired by Arkansas, according to report →

National Signing Day is horrid — just one of the many unconscionable elements of my favorite sport. But I have to admit, I was pretty fired up when I heard DE and Shreveport native Torshiro Davis switched his commitment to Texas earlier today after having had a longstanding verbal commitment to LSU. It’s just further evidence of the hypocrisy that everyday anew I live with renewed fervor.

College: Doug Anderson (Detroit Mercy) slams the alley-oop all over Notre Dame’s Jack Cooley.
It’s a few days old but bare with me, I’ll keep scouring the internets for all your poster dunk needs.

Rose Bowling
The 2001 Miami Hurricanes are widely believed to be the greatest team in college football history. Their roster included names such as Ken Dorsey, Clinton Portis, Jeremy Shockey, Andre Johnson, Bryant McKinnie, D.J. Williams, Jonathan Vilma, Phillip Buchanon, Najeh Davenport, Ed Reed, Willis McGahee and Sean Taylor. That’s a lot of first round draft picks.
Miami went a perfect 12-0 on their way to the Rose Bowl. The team’s signature moment came in week eight at Boston College. The Hurricane’s offense couldn’t get much going and in the final minute of the game Miami held a thin 12-7 lead. That’s when Brian St. Pierre orchestrated a 61 yard drive to Miami’s nine yard line. A gigantic upset was in the works. And just like that, an errant pass to Ryan Read bounces off Mike Rumph’s leg and into the arms of Matt Walters. Walters runs about ten yards and is on his way down to the turf when an opportunistic Ed Reed takes the game over by literally stealing the ball from his very own teammate.

AJ Green’s suspension
Everyone is flipping out about the 4 game suspension right now saying that it is too harsh, but we don’t (and probably never will) know all the facts.
- Did he KNOW that selling a used jersey for profit was against the rules? If he did… I honestly think 4 games would have an ok punishment.
- Did he plan to do this prematurely? Was he thinking about it in the summertime, or maybe last year? If 1 and 2 are true… dude shouldn’t be on the field at all this regular season.
- Did he promote it to others (not just put up the listing and walk away)? IMO, he would be done for the regular season and post season.
Think rationally people. 4 games was only 1 step away. I know AJ is a great kid and an even greater athlete and NO SEC fan wants to see him off the field at all. Bragging rights are tarnished now for South Carolina, Arkansas, and Mississippi State [IF they win].
My issue with the NCAA goes beyond the suspension and the length. I think the way they prevent athletes from benefitting from their participation financially is archaic and hypocritical considering how much money they’re making off these kids, many who will never play in the NFL and many who are not getting a real education in exchange.

Green Gets Four Game Suspension For Selling Game Jersey
The NCAA is incredibly dumb. Leave these athletes alone already.

The Juggalos of College Football →
One of the reasons I love working for SB Nation is because of headlines like this one. Well played, Sean Keeley.
Like the misunderstood Juggalos, The Big East continues to defy expectations and logic as it moves forward into another college football season. SB Nation’s Big East blogs take a look at the conference and make their predictions, while there’s still a conference to predict.
