The Dodgers are reeling and the Giants are picking up all the pieces. After last night’s 5-2 loss, the Dodgers have dropped five in a row and are on the outside looking up at the Padres, Giants, and Rockies. That’s not going to be easy. Especially with the Giants heating up, having won 8 of the last 10.
Madison Bumgarner continued to show flashes of brilliance, but he tired in the sixth inning when he gave up two runs. He finished his day with 5.2 innings with 2 runs in the ledger against him and 3 strikeouts for him. Those early season concerns I had about his loss of velocity are slowing flying away.
For the Dodgers, things weren’t so pretty. They called up James McDonald in hopes that he would finally take his opportunity to shore up the back of the rotation and run with it, but sadly he didn’t. 5 IP, 9 H, 4 R will usually keep your opportunities in little demand.
