ST. LOUIS – The fans jammed the downtown streets Sunday afternoon. They flocked around the Stan Musial statue, taking pictures. For one final time this season, a sea of red stormed into Busch Stadium, celebrating the St. Louis Cardinals’ glorious season. The Cardinals beat the Texas Rangers in Game 7 of the World Series on Friday night. The party still was in full swing two days later as a parade filled the downtown streets and stadium with no one ready to let go.
“Unbelievable,” said Chicago White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, who flew into town Friday to witness the final chapter of one of the greatest postseasons in baseball history. “This is unbe-freakin’-lievable.”
